Basketball is a team sport that is popular throughout the world. It is a sport that is played indoors and outdoors in all seasons. Each team is composed of five players. The object of the game is to score more points than your opponent. A variety of skills are taught such as passing, catching, shooting and dribbling.
Volleyball is played by two teams of six players. Volleyball can be adapted to all levels of play from a recreational game to a highly competitive game. The object of the game is to keep the ball from hitting the floor on your side of the net. Students learn the basic skills including the serve, set, forearm pass, dig, spike and block.
Softball has become a favorite summertime sport played at picnics and family gatherings. The game has been modified for indoor play; however, the basic rules of the game are applied. Softball is a team sport using throwing, batting, catching and running skills by two opponent teams.
Badminton has become a highly competitive Olympic game and is one of the most popular sports in the world. The game of badminton can be played indoors or outdoors by 2 or 4 players. The game of badminton is played over a net using rackets and shuttles. A variety of strokes and strategies such as the smash, high clear, drop shot, forehand and back.
Olympic Day is a school wide event that requires a variety of skills learned in physical education classes. Softball throw, foul shots and a marathon event are events included in Olympic Day.
