Mother
Cabrini High School (MCHS) offers specialized and
distinctive programs of study to enhance the education
of our students. Our academic programs are recognized
by the U.S. Department of Education as part of the
criteria for winning MCHS’ second Blue Ribbon
School of Excellence award.
The Cabrini Scholars’ Program is an enriched curriculum with roots in the Cabrini tradition. It is designed to challenge gifted young women to stretch their abilities and achieve their goals to ensure placement at the most selective colleges and universities. Cabrini Scholars take all honors, regents level, advanced placement, and college level courses throughout their four years of high school. Scholars can earn up to 18 college credits while at Cabrini. Guidance counselors work closely with each student to place them in special introductory programs for their career choice.
The CAP Program is designed to help students who come to MCHS below grade level to achieve academically and obtain a college preparatory education. The program provides specialized instruction to meet individual student's needs, as well as opportunity for tutoring sessions. Students enjoy small classes with special attention to reading and math remediation. The program also provides various enrichment activities such as field trips. The National Catholic Educational Association has honored the CAP Program with the “Elizabeth Ann Seton Award.”
There are two computer labs. The computer labs are equipped with Dell Pentium Computers. Students have access to on-line services via the Internet for research and classroom use. Our library also allows the students to access the Internet. Computers are also available in all classrooms.
The transition to high school can be difficult. A smooth transition is the key to high school success. We have developed an interdisciplinary study skills program to help all freshmen in acquiring the necessary skills to ensure a successful four years.
This is a unique program offered at no cost to our students. Students meet 2-4 days a week from 2:45pm until 4:30pm and receive assistance with homework, studying and projects. A team of teachers and peer tutors conduct the After School Program. The library is staffed by a teacher and peer tutors.
An integral part of a Cabrini education is to develop women leaders. One way to develop leadership skills in our students is to train them to help their peers with academic and social skills. Peer tutors assist students in specified subject areas. Peer Counselors are assigned to freshmen students to assist them in the transition to high school.
